Errata Sheets in Maine are governed statutorily by Maine’s Rules of Civil Procedure, Rule 30(e). ME. REV. STAT. ANN. tit. Court Rules, § 5-30 (2017). This rule requires that unless the witness and the parties waive the reading and examination, once the transcript is complete it should be provided to the witness for the witness to read and examine it. Id. A witness can make changes to the transcript testimony in either form or substance if it desires. Id. Any changes shall be accompanied by a statement of reasons as to why the changes are being made. Id. The witness shall then sign the deposition unless the signing has been waived or the witness is ill, cannot be found, or refuses to sign. Id. The witness has 30 days to read, examine, and sign the transcript from the day it is submitted to the witness. Id. If the witness does not complete this within 30 days, the deposition officer should sign the transcript and it will be considered fully signed. Id.
