Jury instructions regarding expert witnesses are outlined in Florida’s Standard Jury Instructions for Civil Cases, section 600. Fla. Standard Jury Instr. Civ. 601.2 (2015). These instructions require the jury to answer the questions presented to them by the court by weighing the evidence provided during the trial. Id. In regard to witnesses, the jury is allowed to evaluate each witness’s believability based on the witness’s demeanor, frankness, intelligence, or interest the witness may have in the case. Id. Additionally, for expert witnesses, the jury is instructed to determine how much weight each witness is deserved based on the expert’s “knowledge, skill, experience, training, or education … reasons given by the witness for the opinion expressed, and all other evidence in the case.” Id.
