Expert witness discovery is governed by Maine’s Rules of Civil Procedure, Rule 26. Me. Stat. tit. 5, § 26 (2017). This rule allows discovery into the amount of compensation that is paid to the expert to testify. Id. Case law does not specify whether other financial information is discoverable, but if a party can show that discovery is necessary and the only method for obtaining certain information, the court can allow it.
